Childhood Dreams

Growing up we all have dreams and aspirations. When our elementary teacher used to ask us what we wanted to be when we grow up, we all had about the same jobs. For most kids at that age the only jobs we knew were teachers, nurses, lawyers, police officers, firefighters or doctors. We thought that these people were all special because the helped people and went beyond the call of duty. As a child we never thought of all the many different career choices we could have such as Admissions Counselor, Dean of Students, or President of Austin Peay. The opportunities seemed so little, but now that we are older we can sit back and reminisce about those childhood dreams. Whoever thought that when someone said that they wanted to be a doctor there would be so many different fields? Now that we are older, we realize that there are more opportunities than we can even imagine. Some of us live out our childhood dreams, but others may not. It is nothing wrong with living out our childhood dream as long as it makes us happy. These childhood dreams not only give us something to aspire too, but they help shape and mold us into who we are. As another school year starts lets hold on to those childhood dreams because they are what help us to become what we are.
